Airedale Symphony Orchestra

Airedale Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1898. Originally Keighley and District Orchestral Society, its name was changed to the Airedale Symphony Orchestra in 1982. Celebrities who have performed with the orchestra over its long history include Isobel Baillie, Percy Grainger, Leon Goossens, Lady Barbirolli, Dennis Brain and Sir Henry Wood. ASO has built up a high reputation for its performances, playing to near-capacity audiences. The orchestra has collaborated with both Bradford Festival Choral Society and Leeds Philharmonic Chorus. It makes a significant contribution to the cultural life of the region, performing concerts at the King’s Hall, Ilkley and receives excellent reviews.

Rachel Blackeby, Orchestra Manager says “We are delighted to be making this exciting move to a new rehearsal space. The welcoming and community-minded spirit that we find here was a prominent factor in helping us to decide to come to Wesleys at Baildon Methodist Church”.
