Aire Valley Pilates

Pilates is a mind-body exercise that can improve your quality of life. Pilates strengthens your stomach muscles & increases the strength & flexibility of your back. This promotes improved posture, stronger muscles, & better movement. Concentration improves and stress is lowered.

Pilates focuses on Core Strength. The Breathing style is a crucial part of the Pilates technique. Pilates is part of the group of exercise techniques known as “Mind Body” exercises. In other words, you have to concentrate whilst doing it.

Is it mainly Stretching or Strength?

If you popped your head round the door of my class and saw people lying on their mats, you might conclude that Pilates was “mainly about stretching”. In fact, Pilates is classically about 70% strength and 30% flexibility.

Class suitable for most Adults with a reasonable level of mobility: i.e. able to stand & walk around inside, get up & down from the floor (with the help of a chair if needed) and able to lie down on a mat.  Most of the class is spent lying on the mat.

Classes run throughout the year (including August) with regular short breaks every 7 weeks or less. Everyone needs to bring a THICK 15mm Pilates Mat (NOT a yoga mat) and a THICK towel (folded for head support). Pre-booking is essential, & payment for the first block of sessions will need to be made before the first class. Payment is to book your place in the class for the term. The rate is £5.50 per session in half term BLOCKS (usually 4 – 7 wks).

I look forwards to welcoming you to one of my classes.
